Buying toothpaste is a simple purchase, right? Not entirely. There is a lot to take into account when buying a toothpaste. Is bad breath control important to you? Do you need one specifically for whitening? Are your teeth extra sensitive? Do you need a toothpaste that covers a bit of everything? These options can create a dilemma when you are in the store looking at all the options. Lifetime Family Dental, located in Gilbert, Arizona, wants to help you maintain a great oral hygiene routine. When your oral health is well maintained, you are able to able to relax and smile with ease. So for that smile’s sake, you need to be brushing your teeth with the right toothpaste! Each toothpaste is uniquely created to target different oral health needs.

Fluoride

Though everyone has their own specific oral health needs, everyone needs fluoride. Fluoride is a natural mineral that helps strengthen enamel and improve your oral health. Fluoride can:

  • *Reverse the effects of enamel wear and tear.
  • *Reduce tooth sensitivity.
  • *Fight against tooth decay.
  • *Target inflammation in the gums.

Fluoride is key to creating stronger teeth and better overall oral health.

Tartar Control

When regularly exposed to plaque, tartar can build up. Tartar is a hard mineral deposit which adds a yellow or brown tint to your teeth. This type of build-up is damaging to your teeth and allows tooth decay to fester. Finding a toothpaste that focuses on eliminating tartar is essential. Tartar prevention toothpaste breaks down plaque on the teeth and prevents tartar from forming. It is important to note that tartar control does not remove the plaque that has already built up below the gum line, but rather prevents it from forming.

Teeth Sensitivity

Daily eating and drinking acidic foods can cause enamel, the protective layer on the outside of our teeth, to break down. This can result in teeth being sensitive to heat and/or cold. Sensitive toothpaste can help relieve this painful condition. The toothpaste you choose should have approved sensitivity labeling from the American Dental Association (ADA). These products contain certain ingredients that make them less abrasive on your teeth, thus decreasing sensitivity.

Whitening

To gain the pearly white smile you’ve dreamed of, you may want to try whitening toothpaste. Most oral health products have some whitening properties in them, but there are specific toothpastes focusing on whitening. These use specific ingredients that help break down the stains on your teeth, creating a whiter, brighter smile. Not only do these products create whiter teeth, the main ingredient of peroxide can also help fight gingivitis and periodontal disease.

The main goal of toothpaste is to clean your teeth and assist you with great oral health. To fully understand your personal oral health needs, call on your general and cosmetic dentist at Lifetime Family Dental!

Testimony

You can take our word for it when we say we have excellent rapport with our patients, but you can also hear it straight from a patient themselves.

  • I went to this location off a recommendation from a friend, as they enjoyed their experience, so I figured I’d try it out. On my way there, I almost got sick to my stomach driving to the dentist because I dislike [dentists] so much! But that feeling changed as soon as I walked through the door. The staff at the front desk was wonderful and welcoming. When I sat down in the chair to get x-rays, they first make an effort to get to know you. Lifetime Family Dental has that personal connection with their patients. Next, Dr Norton explained everything that would need to be done. There was absolutely no pressure to do anything at this point, but I went ahead and got some fillings done. As I was getting the recommended work done, they let me watch Netflix to help time go by. I walked out to pay and they broke everything down to better explain what the Doc went over earlier. This was by far my best experience at a dentist office and I will definitely be back! I highly recommend this place to anyone! -Highly Encouraged Patient

When it comes to a new experience with the dentist, we would love to build a new idea of what going to the dentist means for you. There is no reason to fear the dentist or be scared of the procedures. We are a fair, friendly, and reasonable dental office that provides the best oral health practices possible. Our goal is ensure that you have the healthiest teeth and we will do our best to help you avoid time consuming and costly procedures through great preventative medicine. Come see us today to let us help you relax and smile!

Have you ever wondered how to make your smile bigger, brighter, and straighter? Have you been concerned about the process? Lifetime Family Dental in Gilbert, AZ is here to help build perspective on the process of veneers and how they can help your smile. This will help you move forward with all your cosmetic dental needs.

What Are Veneers?

Dental veneers improve the appearance of your smile. Veneers are a thin shell of porcelain that is custom-made to cover the front of your teeth. This shell is bonded to the front of your teeth in order to transform the color, shape or size.

Who Needs Veneers?

If you are wanting to improve the impact of your smile veneers may be the way to go. Some reasons to get veneers may be to address:

  • -Cracked or chipped teeth
  • -Stained teeth
  • -Enhancing crooked teeth
  • -Repairing gaps in teeth

Advantages of Veneers

With many cosmetic dental services available to you, it can be hard to decide how best to address your dental needs. Although there are many similar products, veneers offer several benefits. Those include:

  • -Long lasting, stain resistance. With other whitening processes, there are multiple touch ups needed, whereas veneers have a dramatic change with longer results.
  • -Being stronger and more durable than other composite resin cosmetic services.
  • -More natural and lifelike enhancement. With the porcelain, it reflects light more naturally than other services using opaque materials.
  • -Price tag is lower than dental crowns.
  • -Promotion of good oral hygiene. When someone has a beautifully enhanced smile, they are more likely to care for it.

Cosmetic dentistry is a positive way to increase your self confidence. Getting the bigger, brighter smile you hoped for will only bring positives in your life. Connect with your local friendly dentist to see what is best for you.

Do you wake up with headaches? Do you have jaw pain? These issues may result from grinding teeth throughout the night. Lifetime Family Dental (a dental practice in Gilbert, AZ) is here to help alleviate dental pain and to help with all cosmetic dentistry needs. When it comes to grinding teeth, everyone may do it from time to time. The occasional teeth grinding is not the major issue, that is until it becomes a regular occurrence. The medical term for teeth grinding is Bruxism.

Cosmetic Dentistry, lifetime family dental

What is Bruxism

Bruxism is a condition in which one clenches or grinds their teeth. This can occur during the day, but it mainly occurs at night when individuals are sleeping. When it is happening while sleeping, it is considered a sleep related movement disorder. Since bruxism may be habitual or happening at night, you may not be aware you are doing it. There are a couple ways to tell if you have issues with bruxism.

How do I know if I Grind My Teeth?

There are a couple signs for teeth grinding. Since it is most common at night, most individuals are not aware that they may be doing it. Some people find out that they grind their teeth through their loved ones hearing the sound of it at night. Symptoms of regularly waking up with a dull headache or jaw pain is pretty telltale. If you suspect that you may be grinding your teeth, contact your local dentist who can exam your jaw and teeth to tell you for sure if you deal with bruxism.

The Harm of Grinding

Grinding your teeth has negative effects besides a headache and jaw pain. While those pains are enough to want to change, it has negative effects on your teeth also. Chronic grinding of your teeth wears down your tooth enamel, causes chipped teeth, loosened teeth, loss of teeth and can lead to intensive dental procedures. A result of teeth grinding can lead to the need for crowns, bridges, root canals, implants, partial dentures, or even complete dentures. Intense teeth grinding can even cause major jaw issues such as TMJ.

How Do I Treat Bruxism?

Stress could be the cause, and therefore paying attention to mental turmoil with positive self care may help to alleviate teeth grinding. It could also be a result of misaligned teeth. Bruxism is common and easily treated. Your friendly dentist can have you fitted for a night guard with a quick and easy impression of the teeth. This impression gets sent to a lab where a custom mouth tray is made. Once the custom mouth tray comes in, it can be worn at night while sleeping or throughout the times of day when a clenched jaw may occur.

It is important to have this resolved if you are experiencing these type of symptoms. Being proactive can save you a lot of time and money. Take care of your teeth and come see Lifetime Family Dental in Gilbert Arizona for your cosmetic dentistry needs.
