As the lockdown restrictions are eased here in Arizona, Lifetime Family Dental would like to remind you of the dental services we are currently able to offer. In short, we can offer every procedure you might need for complete dental health, except for cosmetic dentistry. Here are the services we can offer at this point in time:
This includes twice yearly checkups and exams, as well as professional cleaning to remove all traces of plaque and tartar. We also advise with instruction on home care for maintaining good oral hygiene once your teeth are clean. Another aspect of prevention is advising on good nutrition. What and how you eat are the frontline factors for great overall health.
This is the goal we have for all our patients: to bring your mouth to the optimum state of dental health so that the only time you see us is for cleaning and checkups. Restorative dentistry involves repairing issues with your teeth and gums. Restorative dentistry can include:
Fillings—Almost everyone has experienced tooth decay. It may result from improper dental hygiene, foods that are harmful to teeth, sugary food and drinks that foster bacteria, or injury. Whatever the cause, the resulting condition, known as dental caries, must be addressed. Cavities are the tiny holes that develop in the enamel, and they must be drilled out and filled to prevent infection and possible tooth loss.
Root canals—When infection has reached the root of a tooth, it is often necessary to drill out the nerve and pulp of the tooth down to the jawbone. Left unattended, infected roots cause considerable pain and may form an abscess. All of the bacteria and pus must be removed and antibiotics must be applied in order to prevent a reinfection from flaring up. When the infection is gone, the root canal is then sealed.
Crowns—When a damaged tooth cannot be filled, but still has enough structure, a crown may be cemented in place. The damaged part of the tooth is removed and a porcelain or resin crown is fitted down to the gumline. The crown is made in the office and fitted in one visit.
Extractions—This involves removing teeth that are damaged beyond repair. The damage might be from a crack in the tooth or a severely infected root. In the case of wisdom teeth, they may need to be removed in order to prevent problems with adjacent teeth.
Dental bridges—When an extraction leaves a gap between teeth, a false tooth, known as a bridge, is cemented in the gap. The natural teeth on either side of the gap are given crowns to support the bridge.
The prevailing goal behind restorative dentistry is a simple one: to keep all your teeth for all your life. That’s good news!
Unfortunately, at this time, we are prevented from being able to offer our cosmetic dentistry services due to the restrictions in place because of COVID19. However, when the “all clear” is given, we will again invite you in to have a beautiful smile makeover. With cosmetic dentistry, we can fix chips, cracks and small gaps; reshape irregular teeth; apply veneers; and remove old amalgam fillings. We can make your smile 6-10 shades brighter. You can finally have the lovely smile you have wanted your entire life.
