Is Gilbert Teeth Whitening Safe For My Teeth?

You want a brighter smile. You’ve considered Gilbert teeth whitening, but you’re wondering, “Is whitening safe for my teeth?” At Lifetime Family Dental in Gilbert Arizona, we want to reassure you. In creating for you that whiter smile, we use the newest techniques available in cosmetic dentistry, and those procedures are completely safe.

Stains and Discoloration

Discoloration of your teeth may occur through extrinsic or intrinsic stains that appear on top of, or within the enamel. Enamel is a hard surface on your teeth that protects your teeth and helps them appear white. Extrinsic stains occur on top of the enamel over time, through drinking dark-colored beverages like coffee, black tea, soda, or wine. As the acidity of the beverages affects the bacteria balance in your mouth, the hue of the enamel on the surface of your teeth can change, and staining can occur. Intrinsic stains happen when microscopic cracks appear in the enamel and stains form along the cracks, or when your tooth enamel begins to erode and the off-white dentin underneath becomes visible and gives a yellowish hue to your smile.

The Process

At Lifetime Family Dental we offer two options for Gilbert teeth whitening:

At-Home Treatment: for your convenience, we can create a custom-molded plastic tray that is filled with a concentrated peroxide gel. We then send the tray home with you to use as your schedule permits.

In-Office Treatment: our in-office “laser” whitening treatment activates the same peroxide gel with a special lamp that makes the treatment work faster.

On a scientific level, when the oxygen molecules from the whitening agent react, they form a bond with the discolored molecules, releasing them from your teeth. The substances we use in the whitening process are completely safe for your teeth and gums and will create a whiter smile without any side effects.

The Results
