17 Sep Gilbert’s Freestone Park Railroad
Who says you need to leave the comforts of Gilbert, Arizona to have a good time with the family? Those of you who have never visited Freestone Park, an expansive park that stretches across over 65 acres, may not know that Gilbert is home to a miniature train ride! You may have visited Freestone park before and not even seen it as the park is so large and features basketball and volleyball courts, a skate park, walking trails, two lakes, softball fields, and batting cages. However, the highlight of the park is definitely the miniature train.
The train has both covered and open-air coaches and allows it’s riders a scenic 3/4 mile ride through grassy fields and by the lakes. This fun ride for the whole family is open on weekends from Labor Day – Memorial Day. There is plenty to do between rides as well! Where the train ride begins there is an antique carousel, a waterless wave runner, a mini Ferris Wheel, and a snack bar. This is a great activity for the whole family and kids 2-10 will especially love it. This September you can get your unlimited ride bands for just $5.50!
The community of Gilbert has so much to offer, and it’s always great to support local businesses and parks.
